Workshops

This year, the SAO has taken on some great new events that allow students to learn different trades and have fun with hands on training from industry professionals. So far, we have had Guitar lessons, Women's Self Defence, Wined & Dined and prepared beautiful Floral Arrangments with our Algonquin Students, and this has got us excited for a whole range of new workshops! Here is a short description of our most recent workshops!

Our Wine & Food Pairing Workshop on October 13, was a sold out event that had Algonquin students raving! It was a great night filled with lots of information and lots of entertainment. There were 4 unique wines selected, each paired with specially prepared hors d'oeuvres from the culinary students, and live music from the wonderful Robyn Dell'Unto. It was a feast for the senses and a great event all around!

The Florist Workshop took place on November 9, and was also a sold out event! After learning about some great tips and tricks with new trends in the floral industry, participants were able to create their own unique flower arrangment to bring home with them! This was a very successful event and we have heard nothing but great reviews!

With all of the success we have seen with these great events, we are looking forward to the new semester and some other great new workshops for Algonquin students to take part in!

Here are a few pictures from our Workshops!

Dirty Bingo

Dirty Bingo was a huge success! The SAO, SA and Health Services would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the United Way Campaign. Our Health Services team did a great job promoting sexual awareness and everyone had a great time playing Bingo and winning some great prizes! We would also like to thank Zelda Marshall, our Drag Queen Bingo caller of the night, for doing such a great job helping us out and entertaining the Algonquin students!

We hope that you enjoyed Dirty Bingo and we hope to have this event again very soon!

Past Events Highlights!

We have recently put on some amazing events around the College! In March, we opened students eyes to many new experiences!

Celebration of Cultures gave students the opportunity to talk to the different Embassys and try various signature foods. There were also various cultural presentations put on for the students to watch and engage in. This is always a great event that allows students to interact and learn about different cultures in their very own college!

The next event that took place during March was the very first Algonquin Short Film Festival! The event took place in Restaurant International where students enjoyed some great films in an innovative lounge atmosphere to showcase Algonquin's talent.

The SAO also put on an Enviro Event this past month! Bringing in some industry professionals, Algonquin Students were able to learn about different innovative ways we can all help the environment!

Look for these events in the year to come!
